I've wrestled with luggage wheels and awkward bags more times than I can count. I'm over it, honestly.
There's no reason to compromise on these things anymore. Travel is stressful enough, I just want to be able to keep moving without hassle.
I want a bag I can count on. It's not that complicated, or at least it shouldn't be. I've tried a bunch, but so few make the cut.
At the end of the day I keep coming back to the Peak Design Everyday Backpack.
Updated December 22, 2024: I just got wind that Peak Design is having an awesome sale on their Everyday Backpack. Get in on the savings while they last! ➡ Click HERE ⬅
What I Love About the Everyday Backpack
- Easy Access Zippers that go along the side of a backpack seem so obvious now. No more rooting around to get stuff at the bottom.
- Ruggedness I've kept my laptop and camera gear dry in this bag through torrential downpours. It's tough enough to handle the bumps that come with jetsetting.
- Sustainability 100% recycled nylon makes me feel good about having this bag on my back. Peak Design is committed to sustainability.
- Capacity The space inside this backpack is jaw-dropping, and straps let you attach gear to the outside. When it gets heavy, there are chest and waist straps to distribute the load.
Peak Design Thinks of Every Little Detail
Peak Design is paying real close attention to everything. Take the zipper for instance: the pulls are made of fabric that can be unbuttoned then closed around sewn-in anchors. That just sounds like it'll make it harder to open your bag, right? That's the point. This small detail is a theft deterrent. If you have a bag loaded with valuables and you're walking around a big city, small additions like this make a difference.
Then you've got the back. Sure, it's padded so it's comfy while you're moving around, but it actually lifts away from the backpack a bit so you can feed your luggage arm through it. Now you can power your way to your flight terminal without all that extra stress on your shoulders. See what I'm saying? It's small things like that which make the Everyday Backpack stand out.
Perfect for Photographers… and Everybody Else
It's called "Everyday" for a reason. You don't have to be some slick pro photog to get good mileage out of this bag. I've used mine for camping weekends, D&D nights, conferences, and everything in between. I mean yeah, if you are a photographer, you'll appreciate that little pouch that's just the right size for an SD card, or how the adjustable dividers can flip up to hug your expensive camera lens. But really? Space is space, use it how you want.
An unbeatable warranty
Peak Design's lifetime warranty is really amazing. It gives me so much confidence in every bag they sell. Basically, it covers manufacturing defects and breaks that make the bag non-functional for the entire lifetime of the product. I haven't had to cash this in yet, but it feels so good knowing the company has my back.
Endlessly Expandable
The Everyday Backpack is great, but Peak Design is super smart about how they connect their other products. Little side bags, mounts, tripods — they really think about the details about how they all work together. So for example, I've got one of their Cuff bands to make sure my camera doesn't go flying when I'm shooting from stupid angles. The connector it uses is compatible with the Anchor Link tether the Everyday Backpack comes with. This way when I need my hands free, I can pop my camera off the Cuff and onto my shoulder strap with the same mount.

If you've got the travel bug like me, you need a trusty sidekick. The Everyday Backpack ticks all the boxes I need to get packing and hit the road. It's great if you're bringing camera gear along for the ride, but honestly, this bag can fit whatever you need in a way that's super-convenient.
